gypsyphyr Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I am something of a strange one as i have been 'online' since 1988 and started working with computers when they...used tape drives. I have evolved through DOS and WINDOWS and APPLE and MAC and a few months ago I made the transition to Ubuntu. I think i must have made this transition to humble myself. I feel stupid. A friend sent me the link to this site as he had noticed others talking about having done this. Aside from being a computer geek, I shoot black powder, make and pound on drums, live surrounded by snow capped volcanoes and my cat is named Harley. I have a very wide range of scientific interests...ranging from black holes and space travel to the environment and self sustaining lifestyles. Mostly I am interested in things I don't know anything about. If gypsyphyr is too hard to spell or type (say it outloud and use the cajun pronunciation for 'ph') I can be called gyps, miss phyr, gp, gypsy, or anything else that strikes your fancy. I used to live in Texas so I am not easily offended. Quote

lemit Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Thanks for making me feel a little less ancient. In the seventies I worked on a couple projects to digitize access to newspapers, and for several years I lugged punchcards around. So I remember when 5 1/2" floppies were a great development. I also know what to do with a c-prompt, a now useless skill. So, welcome. Enjoy the conversation. --lemit Quote
