Dark Mind Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 How many of you are suffering from eczema (Eczema (N)-An acute or chronic noncontagious inflammation of the skin, characterized chiefly by redness, itching, and the outbreak of lesions that may discharge serous matter and become encrusted and scaly.) If so post your gripes/complaints about it and what you think medical scientists/technicians should do to combat this life long torture and how you've handled it so far. Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 2, 2005 Author Report Posted March 2, 2005 I decided to post this topic here on this site because it has been shown that it is generally people of a higher IQ that have this condition... as well as a strong will :naughty:. Quote
GAHD Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Where'd they show that? I'd think it'd show up more often in those living in dry climates, with poor personlal hygene. Quote
OpenMind5 Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I would also like to see this study of fact about smart people and their iritated skin...It is very degrading that u ask me that question. Have you seen my profile pic...i have very fair skin.... :naughty:Op5 Quote
Buffy Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 I had a friend in high school who had psoraisis, which is related--and by the way these are diseases and have nothing to do with "hygene." He raced dirt bikes, played guitar and had an off-the-scale IQ. Not sure that this has anything to do with anything: it sure seems easy and common these days to publish a paper--or worse put out a press release--based on statistically insignificant results. Cheers,Buffy Quote
Morphyous Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 Not saying it will work, but my brother in law had real bad knees he also suffers with ecsema. He took glucosamine for the pain in his knees which it cured and as a by product his ecsema went too. Of course it may have diminished due to other reasons but he cant think of any other reasons. :naughty: Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 Were his "real bad knees" a case of Osgood Schlatter's disease, because I have that too :hihi:. I hate my skin!!! :naughty: Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 As for what people usually have eczema I got the descriptions of IQ and personality deirectly from my dermatologist, Dr. Aries. So that's just hearsay, but it seems to hold true in most cases. Quote
Tormod Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 He raced dirt bikes, played guitar and had an off-the-scale IQ. Sounds like me, then. Except the dirt bikes. :naughty: I don't have eczema per se but I have what they call seborrhea which is a skin inflammation which has no known cause. It makes areas of my face go really red and itchy, so I have to use anti-fungal cremes and stuff to get rid of it. It's possible to contain it but not cure it as of yet. :hihi: Quote
Tormod Posted March 3, 2005 Report Posted March 3, 2005 ...from my dermatologist, Dr. Aries. I didn't know dermatologists handed out IQ tests! Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 3, 2005 Author Report Posted March 3, 2005 I didn't know dermatologists handed out IQ tests! Well he didn't, I just talked with him and I guess I came off as sounding intellectual. Not to brag (I actually don't like being told that I'm smart by other people) but I get that a lot, stuff like: (These are mainly comments I've gotten from peers in school) "Wow! Why are you so smart?", "Geez "brainiac", leave us some problems to solve.", "Do you always have to be right?", "I wish I had your brains.", "You're the smartest dumbass I've ever met." (<--- I don't like to do homework so I have bad grades:embarass:). If I were older my level of intelligence would probably be only considered slightly above average, but since I'm 16 I'm like some child prodigy to people and it annoys me to have to try and live up to their (parents) expectations, so I rebel by not. Simply put. Un-simply put, I screw myself over by not doing homework and not advancing my own life because it would feel as if I were doing it for somebody else. Probably needless to say, I'm also depressive and on Prozac. :hihi: This was probably kind of awkward to read, but this is the "Watercooler", a place where we all get to know one another a little better. Hope that wasn't too much at the end though, I really don't mind sharing anything with anyone (except Social Security # and other such information) because I am who I am and I may as well get used to how people deal with it because I'm going to be me for a while :naughty:. I have to use a cream called Clobetasol Propionate and I'm taking "Ery-Tabs" for eczema (It's a pretty bad case of eczema). Quote
Morphyous Posted March 5, 2005 Report Posted March 5, 2005 Were his "real bad knees" a case of Osgood Schlatter's disease, because I have that too :cup:. I hate my skin!!! :hyper:No, It was due to sports injurys he has got an artheritic condition. Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 9, 2005 Author Report Posted March 9, 2005 Ahhhh. Well that's probably worse than Osgood which, supposedly, will go away. Quote
minna Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 I have something that is some what similar. It's called Keratosis Pilaris, mainly affects babies, teenager and people of Celtic origin. Usually it runs in families and its a dry skin condition. There is not cure nor does anyone know the cause...at least it is not dangerous and hopefully it will disappear when I am 30 (as told by my dermatologist). Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 14, 2005 Author Report Posted March 14, 2005 Well I feel sorry for you, yet I envy you. Eczema never goes away. It may disappear for a while but it may spring up at any time due to unknown causes (Like herpes! For your entire body!), almost everyone has a different trigger, I don't know what mine is/are yet. Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 14, 2005 Author Report Posted March 14, 2005 I recently heard that eczema may be caused because of your immune system being too strong :cup:. That seems kind of like an oxy-moron to me since too many white blood cells never seemed like a bad thing until I got eczema :cup:. Oh well, I'm going to the doctors tomorrow because it's getting so out of hand (no pun intended). Quote
