Qfwfq Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 immortallity is the easiest path, it would do away with many needs like reproducing. In order to do away with reproducing, the immortal would also have to be perfect! Quote
chatlack Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 As we are a system, our purpose is to keep the system going , like all other systems. (The system here is social existence of humans) Thats our pro-choosen purpose. And it is not really important. One dies , one comes : whats important with this? We can just enjoy our lives while feed our basic emotions. Quote
goku Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 the purpose of my life is to serve god. that was not always my purpose, before i knew god the purpose was to know god. the purpose people are searching for is god. there is one question that no one has asked yet, what are we hoping to find in searching for purpose?how will you know when you find it?if someone told you the truth would you believe it? evolution is clear, there is no purpose, there is no reason, there is no answers. life is just a mistake, not good nor bad not anything. people make life out to be more than what evolution says it is. if evolution is so true, then why do people keep searching?i know why people keep searching. jerryo Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 ...i think its from the book of Corinthians in the new testament ;) i am not sure Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 Enh... I don't know, it just sounded familiar. It may very well be and either my mother or grandmother may have said it... But, actually, that doesn't sound like anything either one would say... I'll find out eventually... ;) Quote
MEL555 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Question: What is the true purpose of our life here on Earth? Answer: Eat drink and be merry...for tommorow,we die ;)NO NO NO NO LIFE IS! THERE IS NO DEATH PLEASE, FOR GOD'S SAKE GIVE UP THE DEATH LIE. THIS is Heaven. God is so good that IT allows satan(the liar) to live in Heaven. GOOD BYE Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 WOW! That was special ;).I'd prefer to keep religion out of this thread, but hey, if you think religion is a part of our purpose here... Quote
MEL555 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 WOW! That was special ;).I'd prefer to keep religion out of this thread, but hey, if you think religion is a part of our purpose here... i am using Your lingo. i am not an atheist. i am not a theist. i am not an xtian or Islam or anything else. Can You understand THAT contradiction? ;) ;) ;) . Quote
MEL555 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Purpose implies/will lead to ...... religion. There is NO purpose. There is only Life. ;) Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 Actually... Yes... So we share something in common ;). But explain this then...PLEASE, FOR GOD'S SAKE GIVE UP THE DEATH LIE. THIS is Heaven. God is so good that IT allows satan(the liar) to live in Heaven. I'm Agnostic, but I still wouldn't post something like that... And from what you just said, it sounds as if you're Agnostic as well. Am I right? Also, explain this...i am using Your lingo. My lingo?... Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 Purpose implies/will lead to ...... religion. There is NO purpose. There is only Life. ;)Okay, I made my post above, below what you wrote above ( ;) ), but that clarifies something in my mind. Thanks. But still, explain your reasoning please. Let me clarify, why do you believe that religion is the source of purpose, yet also believe that religion is a false belief and serves no purpose? (Now you can see why I need clarification ;).) Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 Perhaps like this : 1. Our physical body have evoluted naturally from primate-->we're same as species, mortal. 2. Our consciousness coming--> this is 'the Big-Q' = Big big Question and for what ?3. We've observed self-replicative DNA-->species-->Life on Earth4. We've cultured as 'self-replicative consciousness'-->Surviellence Universe&Self-Conscious5. We're only 'tool' in looking 'universe end-start'--> a tool of 'a self replicative universe'.6. So if Shakespeare said 'we' are only puppets, there is nothing wrong.7. Next question is : "'Who played the puppets?"Oddly, that does clarify things ;). Thanks. Quote

But still, explain your reasoning please. Let me clarify, why do you believe that religion is the source of purpose, yet also believe that religion is a false belief and serves no purpose? (Now you can see why I need clarification ;).)thought/self fears death. thought invents religion, purpose.....becomes a business..... That word God is too loaded. It really means "the good one" That word satan is too loaded. It really means "the liar" JC used these words. Too bad.JC was not an xtian or orthodox Jew. Also, an agnostic is just a person who says they dont know...an mean it.i look at the good one, i dont know what i am looking at. dont faint....ho ho ho. Quote
Dark Mind Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 the purpose of my life is to serve god. that was not always my purpose, before i knew god the purpose was to know god. the purpose people are searching for is god. All these proclamations and no evidence or reason...I'm sure you could describe easily enough from a philosophical stand point though... Get to it ;). there is one question that no one has asked yet, what are we hoping to find in searching for purpose?how will you know when you find it?if someone told you the truth would you believe it?That is a good observation. I believe we're searching for purpose to life to simply understand it better, to make us feel like we are more than just pro-creative beings living a life we never asked for, or maybe just to know more about ourselves and our universe. Who knows? And who ever will? evolution is clear, there is no purpose, there is no reason, there is no answers. life is just a mistake, not good nor bad not anything. people make life out to be more than what evolution says it is.More proclamations without evidence or reason to back it up... if evolution is so true, then why do people keep searching? Again... Who knows? And who ever will?i know why people keep searching. Also again... Another proclamation with no evidence... If you're going to make me ask you... Why do we keep searching? Quote
MEL555 Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 All of yourevidence or reason to back it up is made up in thought This process is based on FEAR. which is base on a non-existent SELF. There is no one in there. dont faintho ho ho Quote
