Noah Posted March 27, 2002 Report Posted March 27, 2002 Are there any astronomers here? Clear skies Noah
Astronomer107 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Noah,Unfortunately I am only an amateur astronomer, but when I get out of school, I want to be an astrophysicist. I do study astronomy all the time. I'll be happy to dicuss astronomy-related topics with you!-Jennifer
Noah Posted April 9, 2002 Author Report Posted April 9, 2002 I am only an amatuer astronomer. I had thought about being a professional astronomer, but I read something that said even with a Ph. D you only have a 25% chance of getting a job as an astronomer. Right now I am in a community college getting my basics. I thought about going to England in three or four years and going to Cambridge University. Noah
Astronomer107 Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 Really? Where did you read that? I guess I'll have to work really hard! Good luck at Cambridge!-Jennifer
ReetsSpaceyGal Posted May 13, 2002 Report Posted May 13, 2002 Hey! Are you really studying to be an astrophysicist too? So am I!!! I'm in my first year of college and that's been my dream for yeeeeears and yeeeears. How did you become interested in astronomy? What subjects do you take? I take advanced maths extended, physics, chem and english. And it first became my passion through star trek, i'm proud to say *grin* Great to know there's someone else like me! Clear skies, Reets
Astronomer1302 Posted June 12, 2002 Report Posted June 12, 2002 Amatuer astronomer here. I still need to get a new eye piece for my telescope though!
eaglecrow Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Any Astronomers? I have been told by paranoid people in my area that the earth is wobbling more thanit should. One friend seems to think the sun sets at an odd place for this time of year.I figure that only asronomers would know that. I could use an astronomer's help on this. ThanksE
halogenesis Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I volunteered last semester at my school's TeleDome so from time to time I get to sneak in a few great peeks during clear skies. But I'm only an amateur, though I've taken a few courses in astrophysics, and cosmology
wazzuuup Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I'm fourteen and I think I want to become an astronomer later. Astronaut was my first choice, but I'm short sighted.
sunofindia Posted November 1, 2004 Report Posted November 1, 2004 i wanted to bcome an astronaut but i too am short sighted so i preferred to bcom an astronomer
Aki Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I wanted to be an astronaut when I was like 4, but then I realised that I'm too short, and I'm too scared of heights.
Tormod Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 I thought astronauts were supposed to be a bit short.
BlameTheEx Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Aki No reason to be scared of heights. Now me, I am scared of hard surfaces. Well, not always, just when they are a long way below me.
Aki Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Well I'm sort of scared to go on planes, so there's no way I'm going to survive on a rocket.
IrishEyes Posted November 3, 2004 Report Posted November 3, 2004 Scared to go on planes? Is this fear about 3 years old, or have you always had it? I ask because my oldest daughter used to love to fly, but has had a great fear of it since 9/11. I know of many other people that also share that as a new fear. Like Blame, I'm not afraid of planes. I am, however, afraid of falllllllling (well, I guess that doesn't mesh with my unexplainable love of bungee jumping, and my lifelong dream to skydive, huh?)
