A laser signal has been detected from space by a SETI researcher!

The article states that the signal was a ""suspicious" laser-like signal". Defining "laser-like" might prove to be quite a hurdle to this claim.

 

Hence, the title is perhaps more than a bit misleading. :eek2:

To the point where the signal is picked up again and verified, also confirmed by other astronomers, we have to assume the worst and take it to be a glitch in the machinery.

 

This does not make a dent in the awesomeness and coolness of the alternative, though...

I read the statement of "laser like" as the researcher being cautious and wanting to avoid any of the hyperbole often associated with the idea of ET's.
