Dark Mind Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Mine would have to Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64 in the FPS category. It was just so far ahead of it's time it's insane, that game needs to be remade for the newer generation consoles and brought above ground. If you still own a N64 I highly suggest purchasing Perfect Dark. I played that game for 2 years and still never unlocked everything (mainly the cheats), it's just such a great game. Quote
Dark Mind Posted March 10, 2005 Author Report Posted March 10, 2005 Number 2 on my list is Warcraft 2: Battle.Net Edition (Multi-player mode). It's just so entertaining and playing with other people makes it much more fun. I loved controlling the peasants and sending them to their deaths:). Quote
bumab Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Doom 2. Hands down. simple controls, simple enimies, simple levels. nightmare fast action. big guns, stupid enimies... Quote
Turtle Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 ___If you mean strictly electronic game, then Myst. I occasionally play MOH online (found some novel tricks that take cooperation too;boosting on a guys head up to awnings & ledges otherwise inaccesible). Myst was so original, I've seen nothing like it since in originality. Quote
Queso Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 I know this is so mainstream, but i love the grand theft auto series. san adreas is so huge, 5 times the size of vice city. it's fun to just roam, do whatever you want. Quote
C1ay Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 ___If you mean strictly electronic game, then Myst. I'll second that. I liked Myst 2 as well. Both required you to think outside the box. Quote
Queso Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 zelda, ocarina of time. great game too. i can't decide. Quote
C1ay Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 zelda, ocarina of time. great game too. i can't decide. I've enjoyed most of the Zelda games myself. I didn't particularly care for that Zelda offshoot (Lynx?). Secret of Mana was pretty decent too. Quote
TINNY Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I remember Super Mario Brothers on the original Nintendo console. Used to play it all the time when I was eight. Could win the game in one go... During these busy days, I play FIFA 2005 for some instant action and thrill. Get your roommate to play a friendly against. NO time to play those strategy and RPG games. Quote
zadojla Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'm partial to Xiangqi. Oh wait, that's just a board game! Quote
TINNY Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I still regard Worms as one of the best games ever. You never get bored of it playing with your friends. All the strategy comes into play. whether it be dexterity, preciseness, or strategic planning and teamwork. Quote
IrishEyes Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'm partial to Xiangqi. Oh wait, that's just a board game!I'm glad someone else had one of THOSE (board games) as their favorite. Personally, I like Monopoly with the kids, and RISK...but my hubby won't play Risk anymore with me. I get rather emotional when he cheats. :) Of course, nothing beats a good game of Candyland with the babies on a cold snowy day, especially with a huge mug of cocoa and tons of those little tiny marshmallows! :) Quote
Fishteacher73 Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'll second that. I liked Myst 2 as well. Both required you to think outside the box. That whole "co-ordinate graph plot" map in Myst was a bastard....but way cool too. Quote
zadojla Posted March 11, 2005 Report Posted March 11, 2005 I'm partial to Xiangqi. The light dawns on me that this is somewhat obscure. The rules may be found http://www.chessvariants.org/xiangqi.html. Some of the links on the rules page are obsolete because it was written 11 years ago. I'll get them fixed, since I have editor privileges on that site. (You can even find my picture, but I'm not zadojla over there.) Quote
Turtle Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 ___Wow; that Xiangqi is very complex. Some generalizations come to mind. The mathematics of game theory, in particular the stategy of tit-for-tat. Therin, in any cycle of good faith exchange, the best known strategy is to always cooperate until defaulted against & once defaulted against to always default yourself against your oppenent. It is proven that with the tit-for-tat stategy, the worst you can do is draw. :cup: Quote
starrmtn001 Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 VENISON! Oops - wrong kind of game. Sorry. :cup: Quote
Killean Posted March 12, 2005 Report Posted March 12, 2005 Opinion for Best Video Game: Silent Hill series. The Silent Hill games have excelent and well thought out story lines (although the storys are a little out there :cup: ), a perfect mix of jump and psychological scare tactics, puzzles that fit into the evironments (which range from practicly giving away the answer to 'you better study up on history, literature and cultural references' to answer), with a bit of action using lead pipes, pistols, shotguns etc... With each installment Konami is making this series more and more impressive. Opinion for Best Board Game: Risk. World domination, nothing better then it (that is unless you wish for the more specific game that I think is a rip-off, called Axis and Allies). The rules are fairly simple, there are even chances of winning when attacking or defending, all over a great strategy game that makes you think out your next actions. Opinion for Best Sport Game: Although there are a few I like, the one I respect the most is a game my friends and I created for hacky sack (kick bag). We call it Kill. The point of the game is to 'load' the hacky sack with either three kicks between two people or you do a special move. When it is loaded your job is to kick it at another person. After that is done, if a person does not touch it with their foot before it hits the ground, then they get a letter spelling out KILL. This game helps stretch your legs, your general flexability, and keeps you alert. If your not alert you may end up like a few people I know or even like me, who gets a bag filled with sand or beads hurled at your face at around 20+kph. Only stings for a few moments... after you have regained your senses. :cup: Quote
