Moontanman Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 My son who is in Germany has a problem with his laptop. Blue screen of death type thing. His computer will not load Windows when he starts up, he gets an registry file error and a blue screen. The code is C0000218. does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? Quote
GAHD Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 tell them to put any windows XP cd into their macheine, load from the Cd, and run "automated system recovery" if that doesn't work (and maby even if it does) it tell me that the laptop has been bounced around without being properly "shut down" causing the hard drive(s) to suffer some physical damage. If/when he gets it working I recommend a full scan and defragmentation of the drive ,and if there are many errors, to replace the drive with a new one (they're fairly cheap.) Quote
Moontanman Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 thanks GAHD, I'll pass the info along to him. Quote
GAHD Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Also a bit of clarification: By scan I mean use Chkdisk Also having poked around I found this MSKB article that might help Quote
