I work under Ubuntu. I have recently set up a new wireless rig with dual boot, and want to copy my Thnderbird Local Folders from old my system to my new one.

.

I cannot figure out how do this; looking under Account Settings I find my local folders are stored in something like /home/"path"/xyzAixxx.default/some other stuff.

Try as I might, I cannot copy this to my flash drive, even supposing this is what I need to do.

Bearing in mind I am semi-illiterate when it comes to computers, can someone please talk me through this?

Why exactly can't you copy it to the flash drive? Can't find the original? Can't write to flash at all?

The folder is called '.thunderbird' and it's in your home directory.

cp -Rv ~/.thunderbird /dev/<flash>/home/<user>

Or if the two machines are networked, you could just import your settings from the old box.
