Buffy Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I mean a real cardio, 30-plus minute workout. Although of course I'll include answers for the rest of you including... * The Tony Stewart Workout: During a series of interviews of NASCAR drivers asking them what their workout routines were, cut up Tony Stewart said, "Workout? Oh yeah [raises arm and points it at the TV, moving his thumb]...up, up, down, down!" Oh and yah, tell us what you *do* if you're so inclined.... It is a good morning exercise for a research scientist to discard a pet hypothesis every day before breakfast. It keeps him young, :phones:Buffy Quote
freeztar Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Tony Stewart here, though I think typing requires more calories than channel surfing. I aim to be working out at least twice a week by the end of the year. Right now it's about once bimonthly, but the strain of age is starting to catch up to me and I'm a bit overweight for my height so it's time to change that. :phones: Quote
Turtle Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 i voted monthly but really it's less than that. the only time i get 30 min. + cardio style exercise is when i go out in the field on an environmental study outing. i do get regular light exercise doing gardening & domestic chores at home. get turtle's "Garbage Workout Routine" when it hits the shelves and then run home & throw it out. :) Quote
alexander Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 devote at least an hour at least twice a week to doing laps in a pool (its a short course pool, 25m), since i restarted recently, after my shoulder injury, i've only been doing around 25 laps, but i am working hard to improve... Moontanman Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Every time I pick up a shot glass full of tequila! Quote
maikeru Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 3-5 hours per week. Sometimes a little more. I do ballroom dance as a hobby. Very good cardio workout. Try dancing samba or quickstep for an hour. :phones: Quote
GAHD Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I bike at least 3 times a week in summer, usually for 3-4 hours at a time taking the occasional stop to buy a drink to rehydrate. Great way to see areas of the city you knew nothing about, and a fun passtime if you have friends who bike with you. Also a good way to meet members of the opposite sex; for somereason being sweaty is attractive? must be the pheromones. The free weights come out whenever I'm bored, which translates to once or twice a week. And since I'm renovating my house, I'll put the 4-6 hours a day I spend demolishing, and rebuilding up as a workout too; anyone who disagrees can come work next to me and try to keep up. :phones: Quote
C1ay Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I walk 3 miles every morning, sometimes more... Quote
DFINITLYDISTRUBD Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Exercise!:phones: Exercise is for those that don't physically labor for their living...come wrangle steel for 12 hours daily with me at the shop six days a week and tell me if'n ya got's energy to exercise...You'll definitely get to walk a few miles and lift some weights:hihi: Quote
Buffy Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 Never. What's the point? Why should there be a point? Thank you for sharing! ;) It only hurts when I answer pointless questions, :phones:Buffy Quote
DougF Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I exercise 2 to 3 times a week but my job requires me to walk about mile a day (I voted twice a week) :phones: Quote
Jway Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 I said weekly. In last 6 months, it's been higher like 2 to 4 times weekly. But recently, it's closer to just over once a week. IMO, it matters. It directly correlates to energy (along with diet). And without a routine or gameplan for exercise, it can compound factors like stress. That may not be scientific (can't back this claim up off hand), but I notice that if I go say 10 days without exercise, and have stress from anything, my mind-body will store that stuff in ways that equal unhealthy and dis-ease. But then again, it can become motivator for me to get back on the exercise regime. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I run every day (except Sundays are my recovery days). Right now, I'm averaging about 30 miles/week, but I think I'm starting marathon training soon, so It will probably be more than that. Quote
lemit Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 It might be interesting to combine this with a previous poll and find out if people exercise more often than they clean out the toilet. Or it might just be disgusting. --lemit Quote
Moontanman Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 A large man with a hockey mask and a chain saw chased me three city blocks the other day, does that count? (Damn hard to type with one arm missing!) Quote
