vvmenon Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 Time, Space, God and Life... these four things always fascinated humans, right from the ancient civilisations to modern man. This infact always fascinated me also.. questions like 1. Where is the end of space?2. Where is GOD? If we send a rocket to space, will it reach him?3. What happens after death?4. Is there a factor called time? or it is just happening.. all at a time? I always wondered, what exactly is out there in the space? where does it begin? where does it end? Is there any other species other than humans? When ever I get free time, I used to think about all these. May be you are wondering this guy is mad, but imagine we are living here and there is a vast mystery surrounding us. isnt it? THEORY OF SPACE Now let me start my theory on space. I have multiple scenarios for my theory. Atom: How many of you have seen atom? not in the real world but in pictures on science magazines? I think we all know the shape and the way atoms move. Attached is the picture for those who have not seen a pic yet. Neutrons and Protons are in the centre. Electrons always circle these two. The centre part is called a nucleus. Now see the picture of a solar system. Can you find any similarity on these two? yes both have the same pattern. Now every star in the galaxy and beyond this galaxy (beyond our milkyway) has planets rotating them. right? We have sceintifically proven that the smallest element of every particle, both living and non living is an atom. The air we breathe is made of hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen etc etc atoms. can you imagine that? Now the theory is that the solar system is an atom of some bigger entity. That entity itself can be called as a dimension. The dimension in which we live. We are living on a planet called earth, this is nothing but an electron rotating the sun (which is the nucleus). Why we cant feel the dimension or entity to which we belong? When you are small like an ant, everything including a small grain of rice will look like a big mountain. Now imagine when you are smaller than atom? You wont be able to see anything, because everything is another atom for you. correct? So we are virtually inside another form of life - living or non living which is another dimension. So how far we go you wont reach anywhere in this space. This is an endless chain of dimensions. You are living in an atom inside a dimension, similarly there are atoms inside you. You are a dimension for the organisms inside you. Also the dimension in which you are living itself is living inside another dimension. This is like putting your finger in between two mirrors faced to each other. you can see endless mirror images of your finger both ways. Can you count that? No right? That way no one can think of how many dimensions are there. RELATED THEORY OF TIME: Now, you are born, live for 80 - 90 years and die. This time period is lengthly for us. But for the dimension inside which we live will not even realise that. Time for the dimension will be slower. Our entire lifetime can be a microsecond for that dimension. Again, Imagine yourself as a dimension and the organisms inside you will be having a time faster than you. The entire life period may be a microsecond for you! So when time passes from dimension to dimension - from the upper layer to lower layer (there is no end, no begining) it tends to become slower. Compared to dimension 1, the dimensions 4 time is too negligible. You wont be able to even measure that. Will continue after getting reader responses... Quote
Tormod Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 I am not sure why this was posted in the Astronomy section - this is more philosophical in nature. The "solar system model" used for atoms is an extreme simplification. Electrons do not orbit in nice circular orbits like planets do - they form "shells" of energy and are not tiny points of mass. Therefore the basic fundament for your theory is flawed in the outset - you assume a solar system and an atom are similar when in fact they are nothing of the sort. As for the "dimensions" idea, this is more interesting. You may find the anthropic principle to be interesting. It discusses issues like this. I think you would like this book (or any other by Mr Barrow): Amazon.com: The Constants of Nature: The Numbers That Encode the Deepest Secrets of the Universe (9781400032259): John Barrow: Books http://www.amazon.com/Constants-Nature-Numbers-Deepest-Universe/dp/1400032253/ Quote
vvmenon Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 But sir, as per Bohr planetary model (classical Physics) the electrons are rotating around nucleus. In classical physics, the electron rotates around the nucleus, the Bohr "planetary model", for exactly the same reason the earth rotates around the sun. But we simply deny that. I am not a science student and never learned science beyond my school days...this just happened to strike my mind. I believe electrons have to be spherical. Because sphere is a perfect distribution. Anything otherwise would require a greater amount of energy to create, and would therefore deviate from equilibrium. Thanks for your valuable input. Quote
Tormod Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 But we simply deny that. Deny what? That Bohr's simplified model isn't representative of the atomic structure? Then why do you use it as a model for your philosophical inquiry? :( Quote
Tormod Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 I believe electrons have to be spherical. Because sphere is a perfect distribution. Anything otherwise would require a greater amount of energy to create, and would therefore deviate from equilibrium. The particle/wave nature of fundamental particles is well known. Wave–particle duality - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The electron is simply a fundamental carrier of electromagnetic force. Making a spherical entity out of an energy packet actually would require more energy than simply letting it remain an energy packet. This is not really an astronomy or cosmology issue, but a (quantum) physics question. Quote
UncleAl Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 This belongs in the crank theories bin. The OP is remarkably innocent of all physics beyond TV documentaries. God is that which cannot fill its collection plates, and claims validity for being proven wrong. Test of faith! Quote
