Moontanman Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Is this really a joke? Can a joke like this be made by anyone much less an influential talking head on a network news organization? Rush has the ear of millions of people, should he be held accountable for saying something like this? Politics or sedition? Rush Limbaugh calls for military coup Quote
Rade Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Well, it is what is predicted when a person proclaims they use 1/2 of brain to think with 1/2 tied behind back, and they take pride in the demonstrated fact. If true, will likely (should ?) lead to investigation by FBI. Quote
BrianG Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 "My question is, will they detain him? Hopefully." Is that a call for a military coup? Quote
Don Blazys Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Well, it is what is predicted when a person proclaims they use 1/2 of brain to think with 1/2 tied behind back, and they take pride in the demonstrated fact. If true, will likely (should ?) lead to investigation by FBI. To clarify: Rush talks "with 1/2 of his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair". In other words, in a "battle of wits", he needs only half of his in order to defeat his liberal opponents. Unlike Nazi Germany where the gestapo did "investigate" commentators whodisagreed with Hitlers socialist ideals and big government agenda, we still have free speech. We should never ever forget Winston Churchhill's remarkably astute observation that ... Quoting Winston Churchill:"If you are young and a conservative, then you have no heart, but if you are old and a liberal, then you have no brain." Don. Quote
lemit Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 "My question is, will they detain him? Hopefully." Is that a call for a military coup? I can't think of a lot of other things it could mean. What would the military do with the president if they detained him? How would that be viewed by the rest of the country? What does it mean in the military to hold your Commander-In-Chief (presumably) against his will? Isn't that more than just insubodination? Isn't that treason? I think it has been with other presidents. If it has, it probably should be with this one too. And if the act is treasonous, calling for it is seditious--not actionably so, but still seditious. If something besides color had changed with this president, then I might understand. But I don't know of anything else that's changed, so questions like Limbaugh's and yours are a little scary for an old civil rights worker like me. --lemit Quote
BrianG Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Doesn't Rush Limbaugh say many absurd things? Isn't his technique, demonstrating absurdity by being absurd? Quote
BrianG Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Here's more of that Rush Limbaugh quote from his website: "RUSH: By the way, the spin on Afghanistan has begun in advance of President Obama and his trip to West Point to announce his great war strategy for Afghanistan. I asked earlier: I wonder if the Army will detain him while he's there. It's a dream. I know it won't happen. " Quote
