RobertP Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 From what I've read and seen, it's a fairly rare career opportunity. A video I watched placed the amount of blood spatter analysts in the world at about 21. How correct do you think this is? Quote
lawcat Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 As a specialized field it is certainly rare, and justifiably there are 21 experts, if true. The low number is justified because there is probably no need for more than 21 experts in that field. Criminalists, forensic investigators, in all districts are called upon to do blood spatter analysis, among other things. Quote
RobertP Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 So that would make 21 worldwide who are actually qualified to teach it, and numerous more who do it for part of their career? Quote
lawcat Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 No. To teach it, they need to have a Ph.D. in forensics. In other words, any person with Ph.D. in forensics can teach it. If you are one of the 21 recognized experts in the world, then you hold seminars, and lectures, and expositions, and such to Ph.D.s and Criminologists, and you write books on which the whole world relies, you teach the whole world including the governments, and your hourly fee is in the order of $10,000's, and only a celebrity or a desperate government can afford you to testify on their behalf.
