According to standard cosmology the earliest light we can see was was emitted when the universe was about 379,000 years old (roughly .003% of its current age)....

 

And for that reason I personally prefer to think of the size of the Universe as the size of the 'visible' Universe instead of the size of 'the' Universe. That our inability to see or detect anything beyond this is no reason, in my opinion, to conclude that this is all there is.
