paigetheoracle Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I've just had my ears syringed because they were blocked up with wax. Since this happened I can clearer too - is there any obvious reason for this? If there is, is there any reason to suggest that deaf people have worse eyesight, than hearing people?:phones: Quote
Karnuvap Posted February 17, 2010 Report Posted February 17, 2010 There is a commonly held belief that loss of one sense leads to increased acuity of the other senses. I have recently read (somewhere) that this isn't really true. Doesn't help answer your question though. I would think that the reason for you thinking that your eyesight has improved is psychological - when you were muffled in the hearing department then everything must have seemed fuzzy and now that you have restored yourself to crystal clarity everything seems clearer. Just a thought. The Vap Quote

Just a thought. The Vap I think that from my observation, sound somehow clarifies sight by giving it body and form and I'd be interested to 'hear' from anyone who is deaf on the forum, who may have noticed the same thing when having a hearing aid in as opposed to out, so that they could make the same comparison but in a more controlled way. In other words I'm wondering if we hear/ see in the same way as bats to a degree - in other words reacting to reflected sound waves from the environment and that giving shape to the outside world, making it more 3-D?
