No. Any sentiment for a machine that we create, design, or otherwise have a hand in bringing into existence is a reflection of, or derives from, the very human urge to reproduce. In esssence, any machine we make, whether in the lab or on our kitchen table, is in effect our "child". The same is true for any pet that we get attached to, like a dog or a cat. Living children spring from our bodies. Mechanical children spring from our minds. Both sources are intimately connected with who and what we are at the deepest level. Hence, we feel connected to our progeny in a very substantial and quite understandable way.

Millions of motorcyclists, car guys, car girls, musicians, farmers, truckers, etc. cant be wrong...It's ok.

I tear up when I think of some of my vehicles that are no longer with me...Heck, I even get a lump in my throat thinking about some of other peoples rides. My first car (a '77 VW bus/camper) carried a lot of very fond memories. It belonged to my dad before i got it, many a fun road trip, and it was the vehicle he drove down to visit me for every visit before he adopted me. When I got it I spent 5 years restoring it, took many a road trip in it, etc....I think it's not so much the machines as the memories connected to them.
