I was castigated (a bit) for a recent post because it infringed the rules but I wasn't sure if the person I aimed it at was insulted by it (Moontanman).

However I was further told that my jokes weren't considered that brilliant either by two people. What this has done for me is made me realize the need for feedback because otherwise you might carry on oblivious to the fact that you've failed to get any effect or the one you desired.

I don't deliberately set out to offend but I must admit my sense of logic and word usage in society itself, while it tickles my fancy might leave others cold - hence my poll to find out. It's the same with some of my threads/ posts but I must admit deliberately trying to upset Moontan, which was silly and a sign of frustration on my part - that is taking things too seriously, which normally I don't.

If anybody feels I should apologize for anything, please let me know as I've been here long enough to upset people, unknowingly.

Well, you haven't offended me any at all.

You have puzzled me.

You have confused me.

You have perplexed me a time or two.

And then you have asked some really great questions.

And made some significant comments.

And pointed out a few things I had not seen.

You've said some good stuff, Paige.

But the jokes have generally been total head-scratchers.

I'm one of those obsessive people who try for absolute clarity of expression. If somebody doesn't understand what I've said, it bothers me.

Yet Spike Milligan was one of my heroes - that sorely-missed National Treasure who offended a lot of people and puzzled more than he offended. His attitude seemed to be "if you don't understand what I'm saying, it's your problem not mine." You're a lot like him, I think :)

I'd hate to live in a world where everybody was like Spike. But there again, I'd hate to live in a world where everybody was like me. Or you...

There are a lot of ways to be human. Societies which try to force everyone into the same mould are barren and humorless. Those societies where many different types can coexist are the liveliest, most forward-looking, most fruitful.

Keep on being different - please!

Well thanks for that! (pity about the jokes...walks away with head down, grumbling to self):phones:

Well thanks for that Donk! As for Spike - yes, my attitude is the same. You in the UK too? Calling Spike a National Treasure sounds like it. I think his humour was like Monty Python - it was hit or miss (Brilliant or Confused.com).

Conformity is the enemy, driven by fear (ego). We need more differences - I'm even different to me five minutes ago (I'm still trying to catch me but missing - damn, I'm fast: Actually my wife says the only thing I do fast is eat but that is to feed my brain, which is racing along at a hundred miles an hour, making connections nobody else had thought of and thinking why, when they are so obvious to me? [same with the jokes - I can remember Spike often laughing at his own jokes and 'me' wondering why?]).:phones:

You haven't bothered me at all, but I'm kind of in need of an apology, and I know the people who owe me dozens of apologies aren't going to give me any, so I'll accept yours.

Apology accepted. Don't think about it. [Why should you?]

First point - how dare you steal my apology! (very amusing thought! Loved it!)

Why should I think about it? Well I'm addicted to this site and wouldn't want to get kicked off but then isn't that always the problem, we don't want to upset our pimps/ pushers (Freud said a lot on this but didn't know what he was talking about)
