For anybody in the UK or visiting - if you want a light pollution free view of the heavens, try visiting the Scottish Islands like Islay, Mull and the Hebrides etc. because houses can be isolated and few as well as far between and as for street lights - what are streets?

Just back from holiday on North Uist in The Western Isles (old Hebrides), where I saw the Milky Way for the first time in ages (Usually in Kilmarnock all you can see is the larger magnitude stars plus constellations like Orion and The Plough (By the way I'm no astronomer or cosmologist - just thought this would interest those of you who are).
