paigetheoracle Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Why is some dog mess white, when most is brown or black? It doesn't seem to be diet necessarily I've noticed one of our dogs occasionally does white ones but normally they are brown or black. Quote
modest Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I'm not a vet. Dog excrement is normally turned dark by a hemoglobin byproduct filtered in the liver. With liver problems dog feces could be consistently white. Dog feces can also be turned white by the environment especially if the diet is rich in bone meal. ~modest Quote

It has also been put on a high protein diet recently as well because of bladder stones, so bone meal quite prevalent. Ta! Quote
