Moontanman Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I am trying to put a Microsoft natural key board together. It was given to me pretty much in a bucket, everything that can be taken apart has been. I at the very least need a view of the key board to make sure I put all the keys back where they are supposed to be and an idea of how the three layers of plastic printed circuits inside go back in what order. Any one have access to any pics of the key board? all i can get is small pics that do not show the keys labeled clearly. Quote
modest Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 For key placement:http://www.activewin.com/screenshots/officexpkeyboard/images/officekeyboard.JPG The clear, flimsy, plastic sheet should go over the printed circuit. It should have holes cut where each key is and you should see where each key is on the printed circuit. The rubber sheet should go over that then surround the whole thing with the two pieces of PVC-like plastic (the outer casing of the keyboard) Then put the keys in. Most space bars and some shift keys and return keys have a metal paperclip-like clip that you have to place when you place those keys. That, at least, is how they used to make them. I haven't gone digging around in a keyboard in a while. ~modest EDIT: I'm sorry, if the printed circuits are clear plastic then I guess there wouldn't be a printed board. As to what order they would go in, you could plug it in and do a little trial and error Quote

Moontanman Posted April 19, 2010 Author Report Posted April 19, 2010 Well it looks like common sense and a little bit of luck saved the day, so far the key board is working. So far all the keys do what they are supposed to do even though they are in odd places. Quote
modest Posted April 19, 2010 Report Posted April 19, 2010 I blew the keyboard up (click image to zoom), http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd216/modest4U/keyboard.png You should be able to see the keys. I'm not sure about the order of the plastic sheets—without seeing them that is, I wouldn't know how to say. ~modest Quote
Moontanman Posted April 19, 2010 Author Report Posted April 19, 2010 I can't read the keys in that pic, I am pretty sure i have several keys out of place but the letters and shift keys are in the right place. So far i can't find a pic of the key board that is clear enough to let me read the keys. Quote
