Aki Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I'm curious to know what people do during the day Quote
Tormod Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I'm Head of Web Communications for the Norwegian Space Centre. So that would be "other", then. ;) Quote
Tormod Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 If anyone votes for the final option please let me know. ;) Quote
sanctus Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Don't you want to change the poll option so that multiplecnoice is avaible, because I'm student, but work as well sometimes as teacher and sometimes juggler Quote
Biochemist Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Aki- I have to tell you that I was really chuckling at this list of professions. I would never have grouped businessmen with sales folks (most businessmen are not in sales, and most salesmen wouild not describe themsleves as businessmen). I also would never have put doctors and scientists in the same category (similar reasons). Further, the missing categories are really interesting (e.g.,information technology, art, music, sports, hospitality, agriculture, etc) and are reasonably large. And that assumes that we allow "scientist" to cover an incredibly large amount of territory (from pharmaceutical research to materials science, environmental science, computer science, manufacturing, etc.). And in "business" we would include owning a hardware store in the same category with investment banking, I guess. I am a Doctor of Pharmacy that spent 15 years in information technology, and I am now launching a start-up. I think I am three different "other" jobs. Quote
zadojla Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I think the lack of an "Information Technology" choice is going to skew the results. I'm one of those IT people, mainframe computer operations. Quote
Aki Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 Biochemist- I have to agree with you, lol:) I thought about it at first, and I wasn't sure about the options. You see, I didn't want to have too many options on the list. Zadojla- Yes IT! IT jobs! I totally forgot about that... Quote
bumab Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 Teacher! Yee-haw! Well, it's spring break right now, so I'm actually not working.... It's a good life. These weeks off are incredible. I think everyone should work about 8 or 9 weeks straight, then have a week off, then another 8 or 9, then a week off... keep everyone happier, i think :xx: Quote
Queso Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 i agree bumab, being a student. i just had a week off myself. it gives you something to look forward to, something EPIC. Quote
Queso Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 i would love to know more about your profession nemo. Quote
nemo Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 it's kinda dark, the food stinks, and the oak tree next to me keeps encroaching on my personal space, but the rent is cheap and i have broadband internet access. there is an upside to that pushy oak, though - at some point, i'll be on top of it; mushrooms like me live to get root. Dark Mind Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 i agree bumab, being a student. i just had a week off myself. it gives you something to look forward to, something EPIC. Always... Quote
nemo Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 thanks for the compliment; i think irish might have a different opinion though. Quote
