A23 Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 We take as a fact that women live a bit longer than men.If we suppose the lifetime is proportional to the biological work, and compare humanity to ants we get data like : Ants : Queen ant lives 10y, male ant 2weeks, queen makes 100millions eggsHuman : Women fecondity avg. : 2.2 babies, sex/pregnancy=2minutes/9month Thus we get : Life(man)/Life(woman)= 2weeks/10years*100millions*2minutes/9month/2.2=0.94 Hence if women would live 80years, men should live 75years on average (I don't know if this computation is right for 2.2) ? Does this make any sense ? Quote
Moontanman Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 We take as a fact that women live a bit longer than men.If we suppose the lifetime is proportional to the biological work, and compare humanity to ants we get data like : Why would we suppose that? Ants : Queen ant lives 10y, male ant 2weeks, queen makes 100millions eggsHuman : Women fecondity avg. : 2.2 babies, sex/pregnancy=2minutes/9month None of these "ant facts" are necessarily true, where did you get them? Thus we get : Life(man)/Life(woman)= 2weeks/10years*100millions*2minutes/9month/2.2=0.94 Hence if women would live 80years, men should live 75years on average (I don't know if this computation is right for 2.2) ? Does this make any sense ? No, your comparisons have little if any real world connections. Quote
JMJones0424 Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 Let's ignore the fact that the correlations you draw between ants (which species and why that species?) and humans (what country or socio-economic group?) have no demonstrable correlation to the real-world. If the equation you have come up with to determine the average lifespan of males relative to females were correct, then the mere act of increasing offspring by females would have an inversely proportional effect on the lifespan of males. This is an absurd conclusion. Life expectancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaWomen tend to have a lower mortality rate at every age. In the womb, male fetuses have a higher mortality rate (babies are conceived in a ratio of about 124 males to 100 females, but the ratio of those surviving to birth is only 105 males to 100 females). Among the smallest premature babies (those under 2 pounds or 900 g) females again have a higher survival rate. At the other extreme, about 90% of individuals aged 110 are female. In the past, mortality rates for females in child-bearing age groups were higher than for males at the same age. This is no longer the case, and female human life expectancy is considerably higher than those of men. The reasons for this are not entirely certain. Traditional arguments tend to favor socio-environmental factors: historically, men have generally consumed more tobacco, alcohol and drugs than females in most societies, and are more likely to die from many associated diseases such as lung cancer, tuberculosis and cirrhosis of the liver.[27] Men are also more likely to die from injuries, whether unintentional (such as car accidents) or intentional (suicide, violence, war).[27] Men are also more likely to die from most of the leading causes of death (some already stated above) than women. Some of these in the United States include: cancer of the respiratory system, motor vehicle accidents, suicide, cirrhosis of the liver, emphysema, and coronary heart disease [6]. These far outweigh the female mortality rate from breast cancer and cervical cancer etc. Some argue that shorter male life expectancy is merely another manifestation of the general rule, seen in all mammal species, that larger individuals tend on average to have shorter lives.[28][29]. This biological difference occurs because women have more resistance to infections and degenerative diseases [6]. Quote
A23 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 If women make more children, more males have to die, else the population will explode. A Regulatory process. The way it happens i don't know.Another way you know when females have children they defend themselves. Quote
A23 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 This is why the society you can look in some psychiatric approach tends to sterilize women, else they just want to make too many babies, but we want them only for sex. When too many babies arrive (worries of human geopolitics) , unemployment, exodus, diseases and sometimes even war could start, and at war normally, young male are used (most dead in wars are soldier) Quote
Boerseun Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 This is why the society you can look in some psychiatric approach tends to sterilize women, else they just want to make too many babies, but we want them only for sex. What kind of a sick society do you live in? And no hiding behind your "I struggle with English" excuse - that excuse obviously holds no water. While we're on the topic - what is your home language? I'll go and look for a science forum somewhere on the net that speaks your language. I will refer you there. You can then go and share your views with them and not be permanently misunderstood because of language difficulties. Of both the real and imagined kind. Coming back to your post:When too many babies arrive (worries of human geopolitics) , unemployment, exodus, diseases and sometimes even war could start, and at war normally, young male are used (most dead in wars are soldier)Since time immemorial, young males have not intentionally been used in warfare to lower population pressure - rather, population pressure might bring warring tribes to the battlefield and young males just happen to make the most able soldiers where physical strength is a desired quality. An argument can be made that the Alpha male (the politicians and warmongers in charge) send the young men off to die in order to lessen any sexual competition on the home front - but not to actively lower the population. A23 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 Who decides who is sick ? They became very strict for this, and since the 50's, the end of WW2, the population grew to fast, is this due to the end of the war ? (ww2 was mainly in Europe, but Europe is doubly populated compared to US, on the old continent there is no sexual education, and people reproduce like rabbits, it needs probably brakes) File:World-Population-1800-2100.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 2.2>2 babies per couple implies growing with certainty of the world population. A23 Posted May 18, 2010 Author Report Posted May 18, 2010 This could be the scandal, How ? E.g. Secret abortive substances for pregnant women non willing to stop, or chemical sterilization of men by hiding the stuff in a medicine for another said symptom ? Anyhow, is it possible that intercourse had an influence on cardiac system (lower blood pressure), so that frequent sex were needed for men to survive (at the mercy of women ?), but which again is fought by the church, as being immoral, and hence, it would be better to drink a glass wine to lower pressure Quote
