This is pretty funky reading:

Pi - 5 Trillion Digits

These guys calculated 5 trillion digits of Pi - which is a world record. It took three months, and it seems they used pretty standard hardware, too, even if it is fairly beefed up.

much more interesting their new record in computing Golden Ratio in 1,000,000,000,000 digits. It is not only funky but it could be very relevant in cosmologic topological computing in matter/antimatter ratio while splitting universe just after Big Bang. Obviously antimatter is the "tò loipon" (shorter fragment) annihilated just after the big split. What a Pitagora's revenge!
