C1ay Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Petals around the rose is a neat little psychological game. Some have theorized that it takes smart people longer to figure it out. Try your luck but DO NOT POST THE SOLUTION here. Leave it for people to figure out on their own. Quote
Fishteacher73 Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I'm so smart I doubt I'll ever solve it.... :) Quote
Dark Mind Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 That is a rather complex puzzle and I can't believe it took a professor a year to figure out. (Note: I haven't figured it out myself, yet.) Quote
Dark Mind Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I'm so smart I doubt I'll ever solve it.... :)Â I'm probably in the same boat as you. :) Quote
Dark Mind Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Is "The rose" a codename for one of the die? Quote
Dark Mind Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 8 minutes according to the posts. Guess I'm not as smart as I thought :). :) :) :) Quote
C1ay Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 Have you got the answer C1ay?Yep. It took me a day or so though. Like the professor, I was looking for a solution that was more complicated that it needed to be. It probably didn't help that someone in the forum I found this in hinted that square roots would help to solve it. For those that haven't solved it yet, YOU WILL NOT NEED SQUARE ROOTS :) Quote
Buffy Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Don't think. Its bad for you and will not help you solve the puzzle.... There's a reason Mr. Bill had so much trouble with this one. Cheers,Buffy Quote
Fluffy Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 It took me about 15 minutes to figure it out. I read some of the comments that people made after I solved it and I wasn't surprised to find that many people who got the answer quickly were offended by the professor's comment about smarter people taking longer to figure it out. People take things too personally, lol. Just because it took me 15 minutes to figure it out doesn't make me think that I'm not smart just because some professor said so. Quote

People take things too personally, lol. Ha ha! I think the perfessor was a little off: its the people who *think* they are smart who have trouble with it. People who get offended easily actually have the social skills and empathy that allows them to think about problems by not approaching them logically (which is what gets you into trouble with this problem).... Cheers,Buffy Quote

rockytriton Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 It took me about 40 tries to solve it. I didn't figure out the reference to the petals around the rose until after I solved it though, I used a different method. Dark Mind 1 Quote
Dark Mind Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Really? What different method can be used?? Oh wait, you can't post the solution. Hmmm, well I guess I'll look for a different method although I really doubt another exists.... Quote
