There are Nazis on the Moon

Photographs leaked to the Internet last week taken by the Cassiopeia probe on the so-called dark side of the Moon have stirred up considerable controversy among both astronomers and conspiracy theorists. The photos reveal a structure in the Schroedinger crater near the southern lunar polar region; official sources have failed to provide an explanation for it. Scientists are baffled by the discovery, and numerous UFO and conspiracy researchers have interpreted it to prove the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence.

interesting images. the swastika however is only recently associated with nazis & evil. :read:

The History of the Swastika

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used for over 3,000 years. (That even predates the ancient Egyptian symbol, the Ankh!) Artifacts such as pottery and coins from ancient Troy show that the swastika was a commonly used symbol as far back as 1000 BCE.

During the following thousand years, the image of the swastika was used by many cultures around the world, including in China, Japan, India, and southern Europe. By the Middle Ages, the swastika was a well known, if not commonly used, symbol but was called by many different names: ...

The Romanian scientist Radovan Tomovici, who has studied conspiracy theories for decades, disagrees. “For over 70 years, it has been common knowledge that the Nazis had a research programme overseen by Hans Kammler during the war, with the goal of conquest and control of orbital space,” he says. “It seems that Kammler, who mysteriously vanished shortly before the end of the war, and his team were successful. We’re in trouble now,” Tomovici adds.

Of Course!

Hitler moved the third reich to the moon before the conclusion of the invasion. It's so simple I can't believe I didn't think of it. I can only hope James Bond saw this coming and has Q working on an anti-nazi moon laser to destroy it.

Hey, no panick, no hurry, we still have untill January the 21st, 2018 to get it in perfect working order. I mean, that news item hasn't been published yet, it'll be out almost 7 years from now.

Another item from the same site, sounds like a great idea!

I read several SF stories as a boy, that had been written in the '50s and early '60s, that involved Lunar explorers encountering a NAZI Moon base left over from WWII.

It hasn't been done recently.

As I've said, I do a bit of online writing (under another Handle).

I asked about the Plausibility of bringing back the idea of a NAZI Moon Base still functioning today, on a Science Fiction Writing Forum that I frequent.

You can argue and surmise your way past many arguments about how improbable The NAZI Moon Base might be.....

But a Steadily growing Lunar Base of several hundred men and women would have a Huge Radio and other Electromagnetic Signature.

The Powers That Be would have discovered them long before now.

Given a Large Working Lunar Base, all kinds of SF style schemes to exploit the Moon become Feasible.

It would be a huge race to see who could annex the NAZI Base first.....

{If you're troubled by them being NAZIs--I really doubt that a base of several hundred Scientists and Technicians--with very pressing issues of Survival and no "Enemies" among them, to keep the kettle boiling.....

Would remain Fanatical NAZIs for more than seventy years.}

I have to thank the spammer above, otherwise I would not have seen it ;-). So any interesting follow-ups?

There’s news, but of the movie release, not the science, kind. :)

You really need read and check no further than the first sentence of the “Truth Today” article, “Photographs leaked to the Internet last week taken by the Cassiopeia probe...” to recognize it a whole cloth cut hoax: there’s never been a spacecraft or spacecraft mission named “Cassiopeia”.

If that’s not clue enough to the dubious nature of the news source in question, there’s the 6-years-in-the-future dates on the articles. Checking out some of it’s other articles, it has stories about Father Christmas partnering exclusively with Nike, Sony, and Hasbro, Glad selling a line of underwear-based air fresheners, and Woody Alan making a movie called “Shiksa Love” :rotfl:

In short, ironsky.net is the promotional site for a recently released, low-budget movie of the same name, about ... a Nazi moonbase, and “Truth Today” a faux-news promotion for the movie, with just enough real-news look that, if you don’t click more than a couple deep into it, or actually read the stories, it seems real.

As B-movies go, viewer/reviewers seem to find this one pretty fun. It’s even won a small film festival award.

:thumbs_up I applaud these creative hoaxers, and am many times more likely to watch their movie than before.

:QuestionM I'm curious, Moontan man and others: were you hip to the hoax, and playing along, or hoodwinked by it?

I'd heard of "Iron Sky"; someone turned me on to it, when I started speculating about the workability of the NAZI Lunar Base theme in a contemporary SF Story.....

Now this was eight or ten years ago, but I was told that that the Plot was:

When Extra-Terrestrials attacked Earth, and all seemed lost, the Erstwhile NAZIS from a Top Secret Lunar Base appeared as a Highly Improbable and Totally Unexpected Savior of the Human Race.

Has the Plot changed, or did my Informant merely have his facts screwed up?

By the way, since "NAZI" is an Anagram--Like "NASA" or "SETI" or "NORAD".....

Shouldn't all the letters be Capitalized?

Just wondering.

I’d say plot changes. There are a lot of SF stories, many not widely published. What eventually makes it to a screenplay and then a finished movie is the result of a long processes of rewriting that can involve major changes.

By the way, since "NAZI" is an Anagram--Like "NASA" or "SETI" or "NORAD".....

No, but using strict rules, all the letters in many common acryonyms shouldn’t be, either.

NASA is a pretty “clean” acronym omitting only one word of “National Aeronautics and Space Administration”. Strictly, it should be NAASA or NAaSA

SETI omits the “for” and adds a mid-word “T” from “Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence”, so strictly, should be SFEI or SfEI.

“Nazi” is more of a slang than an acronym, from the German Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, English translation National Socialist German Workers' Party. Acronym could be NDA, NSD, of NSDA

NORAD seems the most strained acronym of the bunch, for “North American Aerospace Defense Command”. Whether it’s “A” is for “American” or “Aerospace”, I’ve no guess. It rings better than NAADC or NorAADC.

My favorite acronym story is for software I wrote. I proposed “PSCATS” for “Programmer Security, Control and Tracking System”, but one of my corporate higher-ups rearranged it to CATSPS (pronounced “cat’s piss”), reasoning that everybody thinks security systems stink. 20 years and 3 major rewrites later, CATSPS3 is still around. ;)

If they are on the Moon - maybe that's the best place for them. But seriously as Turtle says the swastika has been in use for ages before the Nazis (Did you know the story is that Hitler liked a German western that featured a character called Old Shatterhand and the symbol was displayed as an Indian artifact in the books or film?).

By the way did you notice the date that this was posted? (Time travel involved - look above comment, very small writing). The mystery thickens or is it the readership?
