sanctus Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I have this jacket which always charges me with static electricity when I take it off. So I always get an electro-shock when I touch something metallic afterwards (or water that is fun :-)). The question is what can you do so that you decharge slowly without shock? Quote
Qfwfq Posted March 9, 2011 Report Posted March 9, 2011 The question is what can you do so that you decharge slowly without shock?Slowly? Get a resistor of many megaohms! Actually, it usually doesn't need to be slow, it's enough for it to be on a large skin surface right from the start. If I'm expecting the nasty spark, I grasp a key or something and touch something grounded with it. If you press enough skin on the metal before it touches the other object you don't feel the discharge. Quote
sanctus Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 The keys work! :-) Thanks. But a resistor would be cool, sounds like a good marketing idea ;) Quote
