sebbysteiny Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Quantum Quack, from my understanding, you are essentially right. But for one thing which confused me. An observer will NEVER see anybody elses frame be faster than his. It is always slower. 2 observers A and B moving apart at relativistic speeds. A sees Bs frame slower than his. B sees As frame slower than his. This is called relativity. The laws of physics relative to A are the same as those relative to B. So if you think you are pretty slow thinking, just talk to somebody moving away or towards you at relativistic speed (okay, strictly speaking such a conversation will never happen because the speed of light is faster than the speed of sound). And lorenz contraction only occurs in the dimension parallel to the direction of motion. Quote
Janus Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 As promised, here is the acceleration phase of the trip slowed down. Quote
Kayra Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Thanks JanusWish I could give you more rep points, but you used them all up in the spaceship thread :) sebbysteiny: is that also true during periods of extreme acceleration/deceleration? (excuse the ignorance please) Quote
