viddirector Posted July 26, 2011 Report Posted July 26, 2011 Now that they've proven that a photon obeys the same fundamentals as everything else they say that time travel is impossible (outside of science fiction), however, can a torsion field generator bend space time to make someone move more slowly or quickly through an event much like the effect of being on the event horizon of a singularity? Or perhaps time runs differently in other dimensions which torsion fields can allow access to? Is any of that possible? Quote
Gordon Freeman Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 First of all, Time is a dimension, making it irrelevant as to how it runs in different dimensions. Secondly, time is a measurement, just like mass. To say time travel is possible is to say you are made of negative mass. You cannot reverse the calculation of time, only the motion of matter through it (or really forward in time) back to a previously held point in space.Thirdly, with the former two being said, everything else in your point becomes invalid because time travel IS NOT POSSIBLE in the way you are thinking about it.
