This article was what came up with "Farthest object ever seen in space" when typed into Google. It says this GRB was seen in 2009. Is there anything at a greater distance that we have observed since then? Also can someone help me understand why we seem to only see objects that are 500 million + yrs. short of the 13.7 billion years we think is the age of the universe? Are experts getting this age from math and rewinding the clock. Figuring out how long it would have taken in reverse to be at a single point? Are experts getting this age from something else that is visual? If we cannot see beyond 13.7 billion yrs. ago because the light has not reached us yet is this 500+ - the edge we can see? Is the 13.7 the age we can determine by means other than telescopes? thanks
