BEEEEEEEZAR!!!! What the heck is going on?!?!?!? All ot the brooms at work spent the day standing straight up...ON THEIR OWN!!!!!!!!!!!! Will post pics as soon as my buddy sends them from his phone. Some body at work said it was being caused by a magnetic storm on the Sun...another guy said the Earth's poles were fluctuating...an additional oddity was my compass was switching between N/S to E/W and occasionally hanging out in between!!!! WEIRD!!!! As for the brooms with much examination I could find nothing odd or out of the ordinary with them. They have steel handles but is that enough to cause them to do that?!?

Lol, Mt rurtle.

BUT seriously why is this happening? 53 people witnessed the goings on mentioned in the OP, not counting my wife and daughter who were present when I took the photo (with my wife's phone). ..it ain't photo shop, there are no wires or other tricks the broom is just standing there all on it's own!

reminds me of this

interesting...reminds me of a hill we have here, where if you stop, shut your car off and put it into neutral the car will roll UP hill...I say shut the car off though it will still roll uphill if running in neutral..is just the best way to confirm that it in fact is not the engine pushing the car...still trying to find a good topographical map of the area. This one's got to be some sort of illusion caused by the surroundings...though at the bridge over the interstate, as seen from the interstate it sure looks like it goes uphill.

this article from a couple years ago. :read:

The Truth to the Broom Trick

...

But Joe Ross, a professor of astronomy and physics at Texas A&M University, said it's easy to explain why a broom can stand on its bristles unassisted, and it has nothing to do with the planets or anything -- or anyone -- beyond the planets.

It's simply a balancing act, he said.

...

The broom can stand by itself, he said, because the center of gravity is directly above the edge on which it balances. And the bristles are soft enough to spread out a bit at the contact point with the floor and provide a stable base to support the handle and allow the broom to balance. ...

 Ok then...but it doesn't explain the push brooms at work...or why the wooden handled ones didn't....and

still doesn't explain why my compass was hinky though...seems fine this morning.

Lol! I dunno...I'm sure somebody's havin a good laugh.
