Here is a link for the worlds fastest ever transistor. 600ghz and every hope of development to several terahertz.

This is exciting for the field of far infrared astronomy. A 100um wavelength equates to 3 terahertz as example. This equates to peak output of a body with a temperature of about 30 degrees kelvin. With a satellite telescope this would be great for detecting dead stars or other objects that lack the energy to radiate in the visible spectrum.

 

We know there is a lot of missing mass at the outer edge of spinning galaxies because their visible edges are rotating too fast to hold without such mass. We don't know what form this matter takes. Failed stars and/or planetary sized bodies are one possibility. Regardless Dark Matter may not be truly invisible but just cold. Some of it should be warmed up sufficiently by nearby stars to be detectable at these wavelengths.

I dont mean to trample your quest for the discovery of dark matter but assuming that there is a heat source that could warm dark matter what heat source is going to warm it from the distance of our sun to pluto? The only vibrations would be coming from the frozen ice crystals asssuming frozen gases are capable of radiating piezoelectro impulsesthat could be detected as either a planet with high mineral content or a frozen or dead star.

Irregardless if there was a heat source[a star] there would be a light source and the dark matter would be visible by means of relection from these frozen gases to which would give a different spectrum than a planet due to the refraction of light through the crystal ice as well as the reflection from the darkmass. You would never know it to be dark mass on any spectral level as the reflection from earth would look like normal white light but with a special scope it would relect light differently on a different light spectrum other than visible white light.

Even in its refraction of light by reflection the light would appear white to an observer as all light is white light to the human eye except if refracted within the atmosphere. If light is refracted in space and passes through the atmosphere it is refracted back to white light through the water molecules in the air. Only a telescope would be able to detect this spectrum shift
