Turtle Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Company intends to mine asteroids. http://www.gizmag.com/planetary-resources-asteroid-mining/22298/?utm_source=Gizmag+Subscribers&utm_campaign=db3a532b4c-UA-2235360-4&utm_medium=email i brought this up recently in deepwater's launch failure rattles nasa thread. in spite of a lot of sources for the story, details seem hard to come by. i first heard the report on television news and liked the "will add trillions of dollars to the nations gdp" angle as well as getting at minerals/elements rare or not found on earth. so far the only specific mention of these elements, again on another tv report last night, was platinum. looks like we may have a 20+ year wait to see how this all pans out. here's hoping that by then we have not gone screaming into that goodnight.
