That is a cool video. I have seen other videos the show basically the same thing, but they compare the size of different stars in relation to our sun. Jupiter is like a huge roaring beast. Thx for the posting it.

The Jupiter-filled sky is especially cool, when you consider that it that would really be the view from such world-moons as Io, which is about the same distance from Jupiter as the Moon is from Earth. At about 1.75, 2.8, and 4.9 times as far, the other 3 big moons of Jupiter, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto would have Jupiter-filled skys, too.

 

Like our own Moon, all the big Jovian moons are tidally locked with their primary, so the video’s dramatic “Jupiter rise” and set wouldn’t happen for a stationary observer. To get it, you’d have to circumnavigate the planet, a pretty long trip even for these small (compared to Earth) worlds.

 

The trip would be shorter and Jupiter even bigger (about twice) for the inner Jovian moonlets, Amalthea and her sisters, but with surface gravities of 0.002 g and less, such trips would be less travel on a surface than bouncing sub-orbital flights, or, if you weren’t careful to watch you speed, orbital or escape-speed flights – the escape velocity on these moonlets are from around 30 to 209 km/hr – on Adrastea, a strong human jump would do it.

Great video, it would be an interesting thought experiment to put Earth in Io's place and see if the Earth could exist there. There is a huge current running from Jupiter to Io, this should result in a outrageous aura display and the gravitational pull of Jupiter and the other moons should keep the Earth tectonically active, it might be a good place for an earth like planet...

I like to imagine Mars in orbit around Earth--a bit farther away, if necessary, to prevent massive Tectonic Activity.....

 

And Earth's Moon circling Venus--which has been moved back to about an 85 million mile orbit, instead of about 60 million.....

 

And then, just for the hell of it--while we're shoving Planets all around--move Mercury to about the 100 million mile Orbit, and give it a Pluto-Sized Moon.

 

We should have some Terra-formable Planets then.

Put Venus in Mars' orbit and pull Mars in to the orbit of Venus or a little further out. Put one of Jupiter's moons in orbit around Venus, or maybe Titan. oh, put Mars and Mercury in orbit around each other and give both more atmosphere and water.
