I see alot of these cases in my local news. Can someone please explain to me why the laws are not more strict for multiple offenses? I understand that state lawmakers have friends and family that they don't want to get locked away forever. I also understand that everybody makes a mistake or two, but 5? This gentlemen has not been sentenced yet but at some point he must be locked up before he runs over a child on the sidewalk.

In who's interest are these lawmakers looking out for when don't make mandatory jail time. Other than their fiends and family what motivation do they have for keeping the law this way? I understand you can't put someone away for life because of a DUI even two, but when it past three you have to agree it's not just a mistake it's a dangerous problem. Five DUI's in five days would be immediate jail time until sentencing I would think. Where is the disconnect?
