von Faulkenstein Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 I just received an invit to attend a "science" meeting to discuss the failure of Einstein Relativity Theories. This has been going on for about one hundred years, that is, opposition to these theories. Even Einstein, himself, tried to disprove some of his theories, later in his life. I agree with many posting here, that it will be extended, never completely overturned and still very useful. By the way, all the different postings on this topic, are very excellent.Doc:hihi: Quote
Guest Zanket Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 I voted yes because GR is already shown to be self-inconsistent in another thread in this forum. The observations for which dark energy was created ad hoc, the apparent acceleration away from us of high-redshift supernovae, is already predicted by GR. Dark energy is not needed to explain those observations. But both GR and dark energy must continue to be widely accepted because they bring in lots of grant money and many careers are dedicated to them. Quote
bigsam1965 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 General relativity will not fail; however, a more comprehensive theory which includes general relativity will replace general relativity. IMHO the LCDM standard model will not survive. My reasons for the previous statement are posted on the "Astronomy and Cosmology" section of this forum. Quote
