Deepwater6 Posted January 5, 2013 Author Report Posted January 5, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-20901931 The article explains the onset of the rover drilling. I'm still a little confused about why NASA thinks that there is so much earthly contamination with most of the experiments. Precautions had to be thought of and put in place during the design phase correct? Of course we can never be sure of the results until we can get humans there, but it seems a little more attention could have been implemented to avoid so much doubt about the test results. Never the less can't wait to see what information the drillong tests will yeild. :) Quote

It's a long time to go with all the Martian dust to deal with, way to go guys. :D Edited February 1, 2013 by Deepwater6 Quote
Deepwater6 Posted February 11, 2013 Author Report Posted February 11, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21399857 As the article states it really is an historic event. Drilling into another planet remotely is a milestone for our species. Going from making shaped stones to this in such a short time says someting about us. It demonstrates that we are capable of huge advances quickly, relatively speaking. Just as it would be hard for us a few hundred years ago to imagine Curiosity, it is hard for us to imagine the next hundred years of our future achievements. Will it be travel to other star systems? To other galaxies? What I find intriguing is the journey's we will take that cannot be imagined. Moontanman 1 Quote
Moontanman Posted February 11, 2013 Report Posted February 11, 2013 Wouldn't it be wild if they hit oil... I wonder how long it would take BP to get there? Quote
