The article explains the onset of the rover drilling. I'm still a little confused about why NASA thinks that there is so much earthly contamination with most of the experiments. Precautions had to be thought of and put in place during the design phase correct?

 

Of course we can never be sure of the results until we can get humans there, but it seems a little more attention could have been implemented to avoid so much doubt about the test results.

 

Never the less can't wait to see what information the drillong tests will yeild. :)

As the article states it really is an historic event. Drilling into another planet remotely is a milestone for our species. Going from making shaped stones to this in such a short time says someting about us. It demonstrates that we are capable of huge advances quickly, relatively speaking.

 

Just as it would be hard for us a few hundred years ago to imagine Curiosity, it is hard for us to imagine the next hundred years of our future achievements. Will it be travel to other star systems? To other galaxies? What I find intriguing is the journey's we will take that cannot be imagined.
