blamski Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 is there anyone on the forum who works with, or is knowledgeable about photomorphogenic mutants of arabidopsis, or photomorphogenic traits in general? for another of my projects i'm considering building an apparatus similar to the microfluidic root chip - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22186371 - in which to expose seeds of photomorphogenic strains to light conditions found on the moon, mars, titan, etc. basically, i'm interested in seeing how the various plants sourced from this page - http://arabidopsis.info/MultiResult?keywords=photomorphogenic&photo=photo&range=10 - would develop under these kinds of conditions. i'm especially interested in how the seed begins to generate the plant, and many of the effects of light seem to be on the hypocotyl which fits in quite nicely. i'd like to understand the whole issue of photomorphogenic mutants though... whether these are naturally occurring or genetically modified, whether the loci mentioned are particular genes, or allelles, or something else. lots of questions, in fact... and mostly not very well formed either. sorry about that... Rade Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 I do not have knowledge of the subject, but there appears to be many documents online, have you seen this review ? http://books.google.com/books?id=XfOHEiRC7PEC&pg=PA496&lpg=PA496&dq=photomorphogenic+mutants+arabidopsis+annual+review&source=bl&ots=nB-JZKN-jV&sig=wkwL7giFjkgSckzhNpAlJuQwj0I&hl=en&sa=X&ei=Q-4VUI7xN4m68AS5-oCwBg&ved=0CGMQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=photomorphogenic%20mutants%20arabidopsis%20annual%20review&f=false Quote
