Moontanman Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 14 science and technology questions answered by the two men competing to be our next POTUS, I think it's reasonable to ask if these are the questions that need to be answered as well as considering the answers they give to the questions that were asked. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=obama-romney-science-debate&WT.mc_id=SA_DD_20120905 Personally I think the questions were too easy not controversial enough to really give us a clue as to what they are really endorsing. Romney has publicly said he doesn't believe in evolution, his party endorses the teaching of YEC in science class. At some point the hard questions need to be answered or at least asked... Quote
Buffy Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 While of course we want answers to questions on policy, which SciAm takes a stab at, I believe it's also important to evaluate the candidates scientific competence. Sounds like Mitt had some problems with physics and biology. This from an article that mentioned his wife's plane having an electrical fire that forced an emergency landing: When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem. So it’s very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver.(h/t LATimesvia Wonkette) As Daily Kos points out, Auric Goldfinger would be able to tell him a thing or two about that: No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die! :phones:Buffy Quote
Eclogite Posted September 24, 2012 Report Posted September 24, 2012 I don't even need to read what they wrote. Obama gets my vote on the basis that he understands the importance of brevity. Quote
