Lancewen Posted September 20, 2012 Report Posted September 20, 2012 http://www.space.com...spacecraft.html would this be molecular hydrogen, probably, but still mini rover like systems could collect hydrogen for fuel maybe so also, if it were in a Geo stationary position in orbit, would you be able to lower a tube into the atmosphere without it bouncing off? I don't think a Geo stationary position in orbit would help much. Those orbits usually match the planets rotational speed. However I don't think the upper atmosphere rotates at the same speed. Not sure what it is but I'm betting it's much slower than the planets speed. Probably slow enough that a ship trying to match that speed would fall out of orbit. Quote
darkmatter Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 nice idea! at least someone has an imagination...it would be a hard job to complete, but it would be worth it,once you have attatched the space drive it would be free flying from there. one problem that might occer is that is hubble got to close to a strong gravitaional pull(a planet for instance, which will create a weight on Hubble)it way fall to bits from the extended time of vertually no weight on the telescope itself, then there will be problems Quote
