Is The Mw Inside A Huge Cloud Of Gas?

Even with it's low density I'm surprised we have not detected this halo around other galaxies. We have taken so many shots, so many different ways of other galaxies you would think we would have detected it by now on some level. Either way if they confirm it and find Baryons it would be a great find and another clue to the formation of the universe.

My immediate thought is the impact this may have on need for dark matter. Probably minor, though I'm disappointed that the discussion in the press release didn't even take the trouble to dismiss it.
