Deepwater6 Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 http://www.space.com/18393-alien-planet-super-earth-habitable-hd-40307g.html This one looks promising. The article states that next generation telescopes will be able to get a better look at these exoplanets. I have read the several different ways astronomers plan to accomplish that without the planet getting lost in it's stars glare. There was one idea where the scope would have it configured to block out the star. They will blind the star as they look at it, sort of like a car sun visor. If I understood the concept correctly. Even if they are able to get a glimpse of the planet I'm not sure they can gleen anymore information from the planet other than to confirm atmospheric conditions. Still, whenever they find one these rocky, water, habital zone planets I am encouraged that there are more out there like us. Along with that I'm also inclined to think the odds go up that life is abundant out there, and James Webb Scope can't come fast enough. Quote
Chewbalka Posted November 9, 2012 Report Posted November 9, 2012 Fantastic read! And I am totally with you on the can't come fast enough! Quote
Deepwater6 Posted November 10, 2012 Author Report Posted November 10, 2012 http://www.space.com/18404-alien-planet-colors-habitability.html I stand correctedThis article tells of many ways to determine exoplanet atmosphere condition. Quote
