Tormod Posted December 4, 2003 Report Posted December 4, 2003 The story of William C. Butler and the incredible forces the US government is using to lock him up is simply a tragedy. He may have done something wrong for all I know, but the way the FBI and the courts are handling this issue is a threat to all scientists, everywhere. Colleagues not daring to talk to the press, long-time friends not allowed to comment, gag orders, false accusations (like the "lying to FBI" which he has been found Not Guilty for)...what next? Life imprisonment for thinking "scientific" thoughts? This sounds like something right out of the biography of Giordano Bruno. This might become a _very_ ugly chapter in the history of science. I am appalled! Check out the Federation of American Scientists' page In Support of Thomas C. Butler Tormod Quote
