Not sure if this belongs here or the Watercooler etc. but seems too simple to bother with on computer forum.

My wife has been locked out of her email account for several days now. All advice on what to do from our service provider doesn't seem to have helped (turn Java on/off - change server - go to 'unlock' web page), then I came across a definition of hacking and an email from the guy who gives our computer a health check every so often, which leads me to suspect her settings have been compromised (She uses names mixed with letters, despite Richard's warnings (our computer guy I mentioned) and me). Should I now just reboot and save all documents or is there anything else I could try?

We need more details to help you troubleshoot this, Paige. What are you launching to read emails? A browser (eg: Firefox?) An email program (eg: Outlook, Eudora?) What URL or settings are you using?

Before turning to the leisurely world of your friends here at hypography, though, I'd keep working with your service provider. Whoever provides your email service really should be able to fix this sort of problem. In my experience, you can often find a link to a support chat on a provider's main page, and that's usually a good way to get troubles fixed fast. Folk that troubleshoot hundreds of problems like this everyday tend to be pretty good at it.
