Monstrous Idea

I read recently of research that said zombies appeared in literature, films etc. at times of economic depression (Slowed economy, slowed down monsters). If this is true, are vampires more popular during upturns because they are high flyers, with supernatural powers? Quick witted and highly gifted bloodsuckers, who seem to know everything about everybody? Thinking of other monsters, especially werewolves as the third in line, how do they fit in or don't they? :lol:
