Even though dreams can be so strange this may help with people who suffer from mental anguish or depression at some point. If they recognize and are able to access aspects of emotions when someone is asleep, they could find ways to treat conscious or unconscious brain connected issues. Although a standardized test for everyone could not be developed with such a difference in individual brains. This could still give scientists a greater insight of how dreams effect us while we are awake. Quote
