SaxonViolence Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Friends, Has anything of interest happened on proving or disproving Riemann's Conjecture happened in the last few years? One Dude claims to have solved it, but I'm nowhere near Mathematician enough to evaluate his statement. Anyone Know? Saxon Violence Quote
CraigD Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 I've not read any credible claims of proving the Reimann hypothesis. SV, Perhaps you're thinking of a proof of a bound on the prime gap proven in a paper this month by Yitang Zhang, which I started this thread to discuss? Because the Riemann hypothesis implies that the prime gap is not bound, Zhang's proof is, by my naive guess (I've a ca. 1984 BS in Math, try to follow the literature, have a personal "prime obsession" but am an amateur by the standards of publishing mathematicians) a disproof of the Reimann hypothesis. I suspect I'm critically misunderstanding something here, as I've not read reaction similar to mine from any fast-commenting pros. Quote
