SaxonViolence Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) How many of y'all read the book "Talent Doesn't Matter"? At any rate: Imagine a very bright Teen... {Like I was 40 some-odd years ago...} He reads voraciously. He reads very quickly with Excellent Comprehension. He has almost total recall for things that interest him. He spends large blocks of time reading popularizations of Relativity, Quantum Physics, String Theory—Esoteric Stuff. Add in below normal ability to stick to anything very long that requires prolonged effort over a period of time... And he sucks big-time at Math—An almost totally Left-Brained Personality... And yet he is Determined to be a Scientist of some type—a Researcher. Nothing else seems worth the bother. What kind of advice would you give someone like that? {Assume that you know Damned Good and well that he won't be discouraged. Biology is no longer the preserve of Non-Mathematical Dullards. Social Science may be Pseudo-Science, but Economics, Psychology and Sociology—not to mention Statistics—are all chock full of Higher Math...} Saxon Violence Edited August 17, 2013 by SaxonViolence Quote
