arissa Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 Is anyone else here watching this too? We started watching it when the show first aired and then our youngest wanted to watch it with us so we figured why not. Is anyone here in the area where Fox cut the show? I would love to hear some local stories. :) Quote

The public is far far too ignorant in the sciences and it shows in our voting. I doubt that evo cut was a true mistake. Anyway, I hope they have more seasons, but I doubt it. I have a feeling the businessmen will consider the show a mild disappointment and can it. Quote
JMJones0424 Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 I don't think this new version was ever intended to be a multiple season show. This is an update to the original by Carl Sagan in the early 80s. I was right in the target demographic at that time and I still remember the series and the accompanying book fondly. Amazon appears to have a revamped book to go with the new series as well. http://www.amazon.com/Cosmos-Carl-Sagan/dp/0345539435 Gregb 1 Quote

Buffy Posted March 29, 2014 Report Posted March 29, 2014 I watched the original when it was first on, and we're watching both at the same time now. What's interesting is that while they match in basic content (both based on the book), the emphasis has changed wildly: e.g. in the episode on evolution Carl's version emphasized how the future is endangered by the stupidity of the cold war and how we are all one, while in the parallel episode Tyson's really reflects the renewed fight between science and religion as a danger to our ability to think critically and solve the world's problems. A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject, :phones:Buffy Gregb 1 Quote
