Ancient Carthage And Dido

How much is myth and how much if fact? I recently took a tour of ancient Carthage in Tunisia and the tour guide was a historian and she spoke of Dido/Alyssa in a very matter of fact way. I had always thought that Dido was simply a legend.  Now after visiting this wonderful place I'm more confused!

My impression, after reading the Wikipedia article, is that what you heard was likely 90% + myth and <10% fact. Remember that the function of the tour guide is very much more to entertain than to educate. That will naturally colour the spin they put on what they are saying.
