pagetheoracle Posted July 6, 2014 Report Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) I believe that to be able to reproduce language in written or spoken form, requires repetition or rote learning. The science of this is like loading a paintbrush and the art is what you do with the chosen colour, on the paper afterwards. The trouble with teaching nowadays, in my opinion, is that students are only given the second option and that this lazy approach doesn't allow vocabulary to build through instilling words in the mind and therefore children have poor vocabularies because of this - hence illiteracy growing in schools and science being neglected for art subjects (I speak for the UK but I understand it may be similar in America?). I've also posted about it in the linguistics forum today, in two separate posts, with links to my material on Pinterest as I cannot seem to attach files here, including using the basic uploader software Edited July 6, 2014 by pagetheoracle Quote
