Thinking Of Taking Up Russian Classes

What about Russian? Did anyone ever try learning this complex language? I find the sound of it very interesting and I would love to at least try and learn it. Any tips?

I had a roomate years ago who dated a girl from Russia and while English was her second language she spoke it better than he could when she tried to teach him her native language. From what I hear it is pretty hard to do but as a challenge goes it might be worth it (if you can fit it into your lifestyle).

I've considered taking classes on it as well. I've heard Russian isn't as tough to learn as some other languages. I've heard, though, it is hard to learn Russian unless you can put yourself around people who speak that language. That statement could be true about most langauges, though.
